چکیده

Fiber characteristics play a critical role in the propagation of short optical pulses. To implement a temporal Optical Code-Division-Multiple-Access (OCDMA) solution, it is necessary to take into account the linear and nonlinear effects resulting from the propagation inside the fiber. In this paper, we study the importance of these phenomena along with the performance of the network. This study is intended to improve the OCDMA technique by numerically suppressing the linear effects in a Single-Mode Fiber (SMF). For this goal, Fractional Step Method (FSM) is adapted to predict the deformation of Gaussian signals introduced by the support and to reconstitute them after propagation inside the SMF. To evaluate our study, these phenomena are analyzed starting from the case of a single Gaussian pulse, going through the case of perfectly-synchronized Gaussian signals for OCDMA transmission and ending with the case of asynchronous Gaussian signals.

Suppression of Four Wave Mixing Based on the Pairing Combinations of Differently Linear-Polarized Optical Signals in WDM System

Data transmission in optical systems and increased transmission distance capacity benefit by using optical amplification wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology. The combination of four waves (FWM) is a non-linear effect in the wavelength division multiplex (WDM), when more than two wavelengths of light in a fiber launch will occur. FWM amount depends on the channel, the channel spaci...

Finite-Difference Time-Domain Simulation of Light Propagation in 2D Periodic and Quasi-Periodic Photonic Structures

Ultra-short pulse is a promising technology for achieving ultra-high data rate transmission which is required to follow the increased demand of data transport over an optical communication system. Therefore, the propagation of such type of pulses and the effects that it may suffer during its transmission through an optical waveguide has received a great deal of attention in the recent years. We...

A novel multicarrier CDMA transmission scheme for cognitive radios with sidelobe suppression

Noncontiguous multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) is an effective multiple access method for cognitive radio systems that can deploy the noncontiguous vacant parts of a certain spectrum shared with the users of a primary system. However, the large spectral sidelobes of the Fourier transform based implementation of the MC-CDMA interfere with the adjacent primary transmission. In...

Decision Feedback Chip-Level Maximum Likelihood Detection for DS-CDMA in a Frequency-Selective Fading Channel

In direct sequence code division multiple access (DSCDMA), variable rate transmission can be realized by simply changing the spreading factor SF for the given chip rate. In a frequency-selective fading channel, the transmission performance can be improved by using rake combining. However, when a very low SF is used for achieving a high transmission rate, error floor is produced due to insuffici...
